@Ibra: Yes they will be recorded.
@Kaj: Man, I’m sorry to hear that. Well let’s haul ass during the next 6 weeks and make a leap toward that new job! Assuming the job involves building 3D characters 😉
@Kaj: I’ll try not to respond to this thread much so it can be an organized collection of questions. But it felt anti-social to not acknowledge your reply lol – “Great question” is what I mean to say!
@Kaj: “even so that my guitar playing has been affected by this
Yikes, that’s always a bummer when the guitar playing gets neglected! Game stuff huh? Very cool – I too have longed to dabble in game art. Thanks for introducing yourself!
@Daniel Kwak: Another guitar player, nice! And an instructor..that intimidates me 😀 Thanks for sharing, sir!
@Ryan: “welding and fabrication field for 10 years…”
So you’re a real-world modeler. That’s legit. Maybe you can teach me some of that! 😀 Thank you for sharing. I salute you, fellow family man.
@Dan: “With the recent explosion of PBR (sorry Kent!)”
Lol I guess I have made known my cynicism for PBR.. 😉 It sounds like you’re working with a very cool implementation of it! I’m very glad to read your motivation for joining the workshop. Plenty of personalized content creation is in store 😀
@Tim: I thoroughly enjoyed reading your motivation for learning CG. Telling a story is, I believe, the most important purpose of CG. I anticipate some good interaction between us over the next 6 weeks!
@Cody: “What was supposed to be a minute or two long spoken german conversation video, I quickly turned into a 45 minute long remake of Mortal Kombat filmed in my basement in front of a green screen, spoken in english, and at the last minute dubbed in german.”
Mind. Blown. Please tell me that’s on youtube somewhere! Thanks for sharing some of your story, sir 🙂
@Aaron: “Modeling my own characters/concepts and sculpting I’d say would be the ‘end goal’”
As you can imagine, this has always been a passion of mine as well 🙂 High school is when I started learning 3D; such a good time for it. I’m quite certain this workshop will be a great experience for us both!
@Dennis: Sorry for hijacking your thread! I should have pinged you first.
“I absolutely thrive on digital sculpting” You have come to the right place, sir! Thank you for sharing and starting the thread.
Thanks for breaking the ice, Dennis! Perhaps we can turn this into a meet and greet thread? I’ll start:
Hello! My name is Kent Trammell. I’ve been working with computer graphics for a little more than 10 years. I worked on commercial, film, and entertainment projects for 3 years before joining CG Cookie as a full-time Blender instructor.
I have a 6 month old baby boy and a beautiful wife! When I’m not sitting at a computer or enjoying family time, my interests include guitar playing, guitar making, and home renovation projects. Most recently – like within the last couple weeks – I’ve been extremely interested in homebrew electronics like console-to-portable conversions and Raspberry Pi stuff…It’s quite out of left field =D
